The High Point Museum Guild continues their informative series of programs on the history of the Greater High Point area on Wednesday, May 10 at 10 am at the High Point Museum. Tom Slane will discuss Hatteras Yacht and Slane Marine.
Slane is a second generation boat builder from High Point. After graduating from High Point College in 1978, Slane followed in his late father's (Willis Slane, founder of Hatteras Yachts) footsteps, actively pursuing both aviation and boating. After purchasing and restoring a 41-foot Hatteras for himself, Slane decided to turn his passion into his career and opened the doors to Slane Marine in 1984. For over 30 years, Slane Marine has restored, customized and repaired hundreds of vessels and has recently begun building its own brand of yachts from scratch.
This program is free and open to all.
The Museum Guild welcomes new members to join and support the High Point Museum. Annual dues are $25 which helps to fund wonderful programs which are free except for the field trips as well as other Museum projects and exhibits.
