[ARCHIVED] HPFD retired Captain saves life

Retired Capt. Lee Hedgecock

Retired Captain Lee Hedgecock was returning from vacation with his wife when he was called back to duty to help save a fellow passenger mid flight. Suzann Hedgecock, Lee's wife, is a certified physician's assistant. Both were attending a medical conference in Hawaii, and decided to stay after for vacation time.

While on the way home, shortly after take off, a passenger was in need of assistance. Suzann and Lee both jumped to action performing CPR on the nearly unresponsive passenger.

According to an interview by Natalie Stewart from High Point Enterprise, "While Suzann Hedgecock was checking the man's vitals, Lee Hedgecock, holding his phone in his mouth for some light, started an IV. Working together on a patient wasn't anything new for the couple. In fact, that's how they met - Suzann Hedgecock was a Guilford County paramedic and ran into Lee Hedgecock on a few calls before the two started dating."
