Do you love games? Free events? Free pizza and popcorn? Then this is a night for you! Join the High Point Museum Friday, February 22 for our third annual Family Game Night. This free event is open to people of all ages and lasts from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Play all different types of games including two board games created about our own city - "The Challenge High Point" and "Executive Market Game." The Challenge High Point game is from the 1980s. It is a Monopoly style game where players buy and sell property to gain wealth. It features local businesses and attractions. The Executive Market Game was made by employees of Drexel Heritage Distinctive Home Furnishings in the 1960s about the High Point Furniture Market.
This fun evening will be full of all sorts of games featuring classic card and board games along with scavenger hunts and Pokémon Go. Lots of activities for this event including photo booth, music and prizes. New this year is a mini escape room – Find the Missing Artifact. There are only three sessions: 5:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.; 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.; and 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Space is limited only 10 people per session sign-up by emailing hpmuseum@highpointnc.gov.
"Today's digital games on hand-held devices are fun but not as socially engaging as old-fashioned board and card games," Edith Brady, Museum Director, said. "Here's a chance for families to put down the screens for an evening and share the fun of playing some board and card games previous generations have enjoyed."
