Heat Pump Rebate


Residential customers whose electric service is provided by the City of High Point, a NCMPA1 member, are eligible to receive a rebate up to the amount of $400 per 16 SEER heat pump unit purchased and installed before June 30, 2019

Program Requirements


  • Minimum capacity of 1 ton and maximum capacity of 5 tons.
  • Minimum efficiency rating of 16 SEER (seasonal energy efficiency ratio).
  • Multiple units installed at one location/by one owner are each eligible.
  • Both package heat pump systems and split-system heat pumps are eligible.


 Customer must apply for the rebate with the City of High Point, including the following information:
 


  • Proof of purchase from dealer/manufacturer
  • Make
  • Model Number
  • Size (capacity)
  • Efficiency Rating (SEER and HSPF)
  • Serial Number
  • Date of Installation
  • Application must indicate "new construction" or "existing construction"
  • Application must be received by the City within 60 days of installation and City inspection.

Inspection of Installation


The customer may select any authorized/licensed electrical or HVAC contractor who has a privilege license to work in the City of High Point and obtains the required permits.


Prior to issuing the rebate, the City of High Point requires that the installation be inspected by a City Building Code Inspector to make sure all State building codes have been followed. The cost of the inspection permit will be paid by the customer.


In addition, the City must receive all required documents before a check will be issued by the City to the name on the rebate request form. Rebates subject to ongoing funding from NCMPA1.

Water Heater Rebate


Customers whose electric service is provided by the City of High Point, a NCMPA1 member, are eligible to receive a rebate for installing an energy efficient electric water heater (30 gallons or more). The amount of rebate is up to $150 per water heater (actual cost).


Program Requirements


  • Minimum capacity of 30 gallons or more
  • Multiple units installed at one location/by one owner are each eligible
  • Water heater must be electric
  • A tank less water heater qualifies if it is replacing the whole house water heater
  • The customer must apply for the rebate within 60 days of the installation
  • Only one rebate per 5 years will be allowed on the same piece of equipment at the same location

Customer must apply for the rebate with the City of High Point, including the following information:

  • Proof of purchase from dealer / manufacturer
  • Water heater KW
  • Water heater gallons
  • Date of Installation 
  • Application must be received by the City within 60 days of installation and City inspection.

Permit Exception


A permit is not required for one or two family homes if the water heater is installed by a licensed plumber and it is not a conversion from a gas water heater to electric water heater. If not installed by a licensed plumber a permit and necessary inspection(s) are required.
