The High Point Police Explorer Post is a youth organization within the High Point Police Department. Young men and women between the ages of 15 and 20 learn about a career in law enforcement. The Explorer program is an educational program that holds its members to high expectations.
The application is open to young adults who meet minimum eligibility requirements including:
No criminal or school disciplinary records
Good moral character
High school graduate or an average grade of C or above
Most participants plan a career in law enforcement, but such plans are not required.
In addition to community service projects, Explorer Members assist with traffic and crowd control at various events. Explorer members may also participate in the department's Ride-Along program to observe police officers in the performance of their duties. While riding, Explorers also assist officers with responsibilities that a non-sworn employee can handle. Our Explorers regularly attend state and national competitions for valuable training.
The High Point Police Explorer Post meets year round. These meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday night of each month from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Meetings are held at the Police Department at 1730 Westchester Drive, High Point.
