Triangle Lake Road improvements are being funded through the City of High Point's 2019 Transportation Bond Referendum. The City proposes to improve Triangle Lake Road from Hickory Chapel Road to East MLK Jr. Drive to enhance pedestrian, bicycle, and transit access. An additional benefit of the project is to improve safety for all users.
Triangle Lake Road is an existing two-lane roadway with grass shoulders, except where it expands to a four-lane undivided roadway on the northeastern end of the project closer to E. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Triangle Lake Road is classified as a major thoroughfare. The posted speed limit is 35 miles per hour. Land uses along the corridor include residential (mainly from Hickory Chapel Road to Baker Road), industrial, and institutional (toward the intersection of E. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive). Bicycle Route #5 is located along Triangle Lake Road from Baker Road to Hickory Chapel Road, continuing north on Hickory Chapel Road. The intersection of Triangle Lake Road and E. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive is the only signalized intersection on the project corridor.
