ASPIRE

(High Point Parks & Recreation's Special Populations section is now ASPIRE: Adaptive Sports, Programs & Inclusive Recreation)

136 Northpoint Avenue
High Point, NC 27262

The City of High Point has valued providing programs for individuals with disabilities since at least the 1960's, and most likely much earlier.  What we do know is that Camp Ann began in 1965 and continues today with strong community support and cherished memories. The Special Populations staff oversaw the development and facilitation of community programs for participants with disabilities. To that end, in 2021 Special Populations changed their name to ASPIRE, Adaptive Sports, Programs & Inclusive Recreation to better represent what we offer.

ASPIRE is charged with providing adaptive recreation to High Point citizens - approximately 110,000 residents.  High Point Parks & Recreation's ASPIRE program is a safe and structured resource for individuals with and without disabilities to engage in social, emotional, physical, cognitive and spiritually stimulating recreation and leisure services. While not every community member lives with a disability or medical condition, many have family members or friends who do. Our services are available to residents of the City of High Point as well as residents of surrounding communities.

ASPIRE fosters a community-centered approach and an emphasis on strong relationships. It is our pleasure to develop and provide engaging, fulfilling opportunities such as Camp Ann, the Miracle League of High Point and Special Olympics Guilford/High Point. We also offer services such as inclusion support, education and training to individuals, families and community members.

Further, our focus is on high quality participant experiences in our programs, the achievement of personal goals and living life to the fullest. We strongly believe that all individuals with disabilities and medical conditions have the right - and should be given the opportunity - to participate in programs that promote joy and growth and enhance quality of life.

Sincerely,

Your High Point Parks & Recreation ASPIRE Team
