In cooperation with the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency (NCHFA) and the North Carolina Home Builders Association, the City of High Point conducts an occupational training program for low to moderate income residents. Education and Career Development Programs a the Boys and Girls Club include:
World of Work Tours This program gives Club members ages 10 - 18 the opportunity to get acquainted with different career areas. Members tour various companies within their areas of interest to find out what the particular job duties are for various positions.
Junior Staff Career Develop This program provides Club staff and volunteers with tools to guide young people in preparing for a career in Boys & Girls Clubs and/or other service professions. El Pueblo is a community access program that provides outreach services, information, and referral services to Latinos in the greater High Point area. The program leaders provide assistance with translations of documents or language interpretation when interfacing with health, educational, social or legal systems. They also assist in helping program participants understand what resources are available to them (including workforce resources) and what avenues to pursue.
