Update 6-8-20

  • Pools

Washington Terrace Pool to open on Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14.

The pool at Washington Terrace Park (108 Murray Street, High Point) will open at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 13! If you plan to join us, please take a moment to read about the changes in operations in place to meet health and safety guidelines. Washington Terrace Pool Operations 2020

Pool capacity is limited to 150 people. To give more people an opportunity to swim, there will be three daily "Waves" of swim time, with 30-minute closures between each wave to allow for cleaning and sanitation. Each wave includes a 15-minute break. Admission can be reserved in advanced or paid at the gate, and 50 of the 150 available slots can be reserved in advance via the High Point Parks & Recreation online registration site.

Cost: $1.25 per person. Children ages 3 and under are free. Anyone under the age of 13 must have an adult 18 years of age or older to accompany them. Please note that no refunds will be issued for advanced reservations. Reservations can be made up to five days in advance. We look forward to seeing you around the cool blue waters at Washington Terrace soon!

High Point City Lake Park Pool will not open this summer. We will use this time to begin phase one of the High Point City Lake Park Master Plan, which was approved by citizens in a bond referendum last November.

Phase one includes an exciting renovation of the pool area - adding a lazy river, play features and new slides, replacing outdated mechanical systems, as well as remodeling locker rooms and concessions area. Accessibility will be improved by adding more handicapped parking, widening sidewalks and improving the entryway into the pool.  Other phase one projects include reconstructing the old gymnasium into a meeting center and offices, realigning the Great Lawn and stage area and adding a bridge across the lake to connect High Point City Lake Park to the Piedmont Environmental Center, High Point Greenway and the Bicentennial Greenway.

The Southside Splash Pad opening is still delayed. When state and local officials announce decisions regarding the operation and management of splashpads, we will evaluate that information and plan accordingly.  We appreciate your patience as we carefully consider all information related to your safety.
