Business Registration

WHAT IS A BUSINESS REGISTRATION FEE?

With the Approval of the 2016/2017 Budget, City Council authorized the creation of a Business Registration fee. This registration enables the city to maintain up to date building records for fire and police, maintain records for building uses, and helps to ensure the general safety and welfare of our residents. The fee was set at $25.00 for all businesses.

DOES THIS FEE APPLY TO ME?

Businesses physically located within the city limits of High Point are subject to this registration fee. If a person operates businesses at two (2) or more separate locations, a separate  registration for each location is required.

Businesses and practices that hold a license issued by an occupational licensing board of the State of North Carolina shall be exempt from the business registration requirement.

WHEN DO I HAVE TO PAY?

The registration fee is due by May 31, 2017. Beginning in 2018, registration fees will be due by April 30 of each year. Bills paid after the due date will be subject to a $25.00 late fee. Registration fees can be paid by returning the enclosed form to the address provided or can be paid in person at 211 S. Hamilton Street.
