Nomination of citizens for the HUMAN RELATIONS HUMANITARIAN AWARD shall be evaluated by the HRC based on the following criteria:

  • The nominee’s contributions made during the previous year(s) that benefited traditionally under represented individuals and diverse groups.
  • The nominee’s promotion of equity through his/her work with their employer, faith-based institution, civic group(s), and/or community organizations.
  • The nominee’s commitment to the promotion of the understanding, respect, and goodwill among all citizens.

 The High Point Human relations Commission HUMANITARIAN AWARD was created to honor a High Point citizen of whom during his or her lifetime has made significant contribution to human relations in High Point. The award will be presented during the City's Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Celebration.  More info on the event to come.

The  City of  High  Point Human  Relations Commission shall recognize an individual for contributions made during the previous year(s) that benefited  traditionally oppressed individuals  or groups,  including, but not limited to:

racial and ethnic minorities, females, and the socially and economically  disadvantaged.  Specifically not a civic leadership award, this award shall be presented to a person who has risen above and beyond the call of duty in  furthering  the  cause  of  equality  and  fair  treatment  for  all  citizens.
