New Construction

In addition to supporting home rehabilitation services, the City also provides financial support for the construction of new, affordable workforce housing for income-eligible residents in High Point. For the construction of single-family homes, we partner with Community Housing Development Organizations, or CHDOs. CHDOs are nonprofit organizations whose purpose is to provide decent and affordable housing for low- to moderate-income persons. Currently, the City has two active certified CHDOs:Habitat for Humanity of High Point, Archdale and Trinity (Habitat) and Community Housing Solutions (CHS). Habitat is transforming the neighborhood adjacent to Washington Terrace Park through its efforts, while CHS is focused on building new housing units in the City's Southside neighborhood.

The City also supports the construction of new, affordable multi-family developments by providing gap financing from financing sources such as HOME and Section 108 loan proceeds (CDBG). Through its partnership with Wynnefield Properties, the City has supported the construction of a number of multi-family projects such as Admiral Pointe (58 units, elderly), Addington Ridge (54 units), Kirkwood Crossing (84 units), and Hartley Ridge (84 units).
